FITS@UCI is the Fashion Collective at UC Irvine that prides itself on fostering an open space for creatives to come together! Through its committees (Production, Videography, Photography, Graphics/Media, Magazine, Operations), FITS is able to create campus-wide events for students! I served as social media director my sophomore year, was elected president my junior year, and was introduced and appointed to the role of Production Coordinator for our first fashion show, "Botanical Metamorphosis.
"Botanical Metamorphosis" was FITS@UCI's Fall 2024 fashion show, igniting an annual show every academic year. This runway in particular was an exploration of the human experience through the lens of extraterrestrial botany. Inspiration from fashion houses like MUGLER and Iris Van Herpen is evidently present, as well as musical influences by Shygirl, FKA Twigs, Kali Uchis, COBRAH, and Allie X. The show opened with HAUS OF LXBRA, a collection by Gilbert Hernandez that was a performance opening to Cleo by Shygirl.
All promotional material (found on @fits.uci on Instagram) was curated to embody the theme of the show. The flyers were an invitation to the audience to come on an exploratory journey of our human essence. Bold colors, absence of color, graphics, and text convey the clashing themes of existentialism and create a world of imagination and expression.
